Restaurant of the Month:Coco’sThis Valentine’s Day, Ashley and I joined my Cousin Cami and her husband Brendon for a delightful double date at Coco’s Bistro. I already had a bit of history with the place—I’ve stopped by the bar a few times when vendors hosted after-parties following events at the Dayton Area Boards of Realtors Building. We started our evening with a shared shrimp cocktail, and couldn’t resist the calamari special, which turned out to be a delicious highlight. For dinner, we sipped on some wine (with Ashley opting for a mocktail as were are just a few weeks away or so from welcoming the little one). Cami and I both chose the Steak Frites, featuring: - Grilled New York-style strip steak
- Hand-cut fries
- Romesco sauce
- Green peppercorn au poivre
While the steak was satisfying, it leaned a bit on the fatty side and could have used a touch more seasoning. Brendon went with the Chilean Sea Bass, served with: - Carrot-coriander puree
- Broccolini
- Charred green onion with pecan gremolata
- A rich beurre blanc
Ashley sampled the Halibut special, and both Brendon and she thoroughly enjoyed their fish dishes. Overall, it was a fun, memorable evening with great food and even better company. I’m already looking forward to trying some other options they have! View their Menu Here |
